Verena Kontschieder

Dr. Verena Kontschieder is a policy and technology governance expert. She holds over a decade of experience in shaping global approaches to AI and digital governance across leading industry, government, and multilateral institutions, such as the World Economic Forum, European Commission, World Bank, IMF, and African Development Bank.

At Meta, she launched and scaled Open Loop, an award-winning global program that pioneered experimental, human-centric design-led multi-stakeholder approaches to AI governance. 

Verena currently directs the Prototype Fund Switzerland and is CEO of Opendata.ch, supporting public-interest technology and responsible digital and data innovation. She also works in strategic innovation and advisory board positions at startups and international initiatives that aim at bridging AI and humanity. She holds a PhD from the Royal College of Art, London, where her research focused on human-centric approaches and public value creation in global AI and technology governance.
