Cailean Osborne

Dr. Cailean Osborne is an expert at the intersection of open source, machine learning, and responsible AI. Currently, Cailean is Head of Ecosystem Development at Probabl, where he focuses on amplifying Probabl’s social mission and building bridges in the global open source AI ecosystem. Previously, he was a Senior Researcher at the Linux Foundation, where he co-authored the Model Openness Framework and led the development of regulatory guidance for open source AI developers. Before this, he led the international portfolio of the UK Government’s expert centre for AI governance, where he was involved in developing the UK’s AI Strategy and building the Global Partnership on AI. He has a PhD in social data science from the University of Oxford. His scientific work has been published in high-impact computer science journals, including Nature Machine Intelligence and several ACM journals. He is based in Berlin, Germany.
