Unlocking the Power of Open Source for Sustainable Digital Public Infrastructure: Introducing the Open Source Enablement Compass (OSEC)

Open source software is a critical enabler of digital public infrastructure and the Sustainable Development Goals, yet its adoption and contribution remain uneven across regions. This session introduces the Open Source Enablement Compass (OSEC), a UN-led initiative designed to provide an evidence-based framework for measuring and strengthening national open source ecosystems.

Developed in collaboration with UNU, RISE, and GitHub, OSEC aims to help governments benchmark progress, identify good practices, and build capacity to use and contribute to open source for digital transformation.
